Cellint TrafficSense validated by GDOT
Original article in ITS International - Wednesday 6 June 2007TrafficSense from Cellint Traffic Solutions (Booth 858 at ITS America's 2007 Annual Meeting being held this week in Palm Springs, California) has been validated by an independent evaluation conducted by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
The TrafficSense road monitoring system uses anonymous signalling patterns from cellular networks to determine average speeds along the road and isolate changes in speed in real time to identify potential traffic incidents.
GDOT conducted an independent research project – concurrently with a contract awarded by GDOT last year – that successfully validated Cellint technology. The report determined that TrafficSense data matched the sensor data with less than five per cent average difference during congested and free-flow times.
